Wage and Hour Investigation Regarding Academy of Art University and Academy of Art College Rukin Hyland Doria & Tindall is investigating allegations that Academy of Art University (also known as Academy of Art College) is failing to pay some of its faculty for work performed outside of the classroom. Rukin Hyland has learned from Academy of Art faculty that although Academy of Art is compensating some of its instructors for their in-class teaching hours, it is not paying them anything for the time these teachers spend outside of class preparing for class, answering students’ questions, grading projects or exams, and administrative tasks. We believe this practice violates California wage-and-hour law and that the Academy of Art instructors are entitled to be paid for all of this time. We are interested in talking to current and former Academy of Art teachers about their experience at Academy of Art. If you are a current or former Academy of Art instructor who spent time working outside of class and were not paid for it, feel free to contact Rukin Hyland Doria & Tindall.
